Coronavirus (COVID-19) Realtime Update Map
From Uganda to the rest of Africa, USA, Europe and more, here is a realtime update on the status of the pandemic across the globe.
According to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, people with coronavirus may experience.
- Flue-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue
- shortness of breath
These may get worse if the infected person does not seek QUICK and IMMEDIATE health care.
Who is at risk
Everyone is at risk. In Uganda, the youngest person to be infected with the Coronavirus is an eight month old baby who got infected by the father. Most of the new cases being discovered in Uganda are on average 28 years old.
However, according to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, based on the currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
How it spreads
Available evidence shows that the virus spreads from person-to-person, and specifically, is more likely spread through:
Close contact with an infectious person or contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze.
Touching objects or surfaces (like doorknobs or tables) that have cough or sneeze droplets from and infected person, and then touching your mouth or face.
According to the World Health Organization, surgical masks are not recommended for healthy members of the public. A surgical mask will not protect you against the virus. Everyone should practice good hygiene to protect against infections. Good hygiene include:
Washing your hands often with soap and water.
Using a tissue and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
Avoid close contact with others, such as touching.
